The Center

The Friendship Center has a gymnasium/hall complete with a kitchen, a family room with TV, and a board room which seats up to 20. The Center also has a number of offices, a reception area, and a waiting area. Center staff work collaboratively with other agencies to deliver our programs.

Everyone is welcome to become a member of the Friendship Center. The token membership fee of $2.00 provides members with an opportunity to  vote at the Annual General Meeting held in September of every year.

As a non-profit organization, we value our volunteers a great deal!  As a  volunteer, your participation is up to you; depending on the amount of time you have. Volunteer services are an important part of the success of this organization.
If you are interested in helping others within the community, please drop by the Port Alberni Friendship Center (PAFC) for more information or give us a call at 250-723-8281.

Our Vision

“We envision a strong, healthy and empowered community that respects and accepts all people in a safe, culturally connected and welcoming place.”

To offer programs and activities that will enhance the lives, relationships and cooperation and understanding of all peoples in contact with the Port Alberni Friendship Center.

Our mandate is to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal peoples in an urban environment by supporting self-determined activities which encourage equal access to, and participation in, Canadian Society; and which respect and strengthen the increasing emphasis on Aboriginal cultural distinctiveness.
